Our Outlook from the Lookout
30 March 2019
A Septennial Tribute to Enduring Love: 03.30.12 – 03.30.19 * * * * * * *
Part I – Nervous Suspense & Rewarding Fulfillment: 03.24.12 – 03.30.13
In hindsight I still find it hard to believe how the moments continue to hasten us by,How our story began this seven-year span, when we first said “hello” under darkening sky;So abandon yourself to my loving embrace, close gently your eyes in nostalgic repose –While seasons unfold, with memories untold, let us journey together back to just you and I.
It began in excitement, I have to confess – though laughing carefree, I couldn’t look on –Too nervous that you would possibly view my appearance as homely, and then you’d be gone;Yet you must have heard love in my laughter that night, for you gave me a chance, but you sealed your fate –Now seven years after, the sound of your laughter proves that we’re more than “another Irene and John”.
Thus began six unimaginably long days, a ceaseless duration of growing suspense –Of watching my phone, and feeling alone, awaiting the love of my life to commence;Then just before dark on the Thirtieth of March, my eyes beheld beauty as never before –Captivated, enraptured, thoroughly captured, forever enamored from that moment hence.
The year which unraveled uncovered the truth; our friendship and fondness grew deeper with time –A tale of love, and devotion thereof, encompassed our union in gladness sublime;We danced upon seashore and steep mountain paths, head over heels in the bloom of our youth –And the smoke-tinted air smelled of life without care, crowned with a ring and a rose and a rhyme.
Unquestionably endless our foremost six days, so the coming six months upon pressing my suitSeemed boundless indeed, the thirst to be freed, to enter your garden and taste of your fruit;But soon the long years of our waiting were through, and forever my heart was engraved by the sightOf my radiant bride, who advanced to my side – whose dazzling white linen portrayed your repute.

Part II – A Budding Legacy of Enduring Love: 03.30.13 – 03.30.19
I remember it well, just how wondrous it was – to finally escape from the clamor of friends,From the hullabaloo, and the aggregate view, away from the flash of the camera lens;My beloved and I, together alone in the intimate glow of our honeymoon suite –Immensely delighted, forever united, awaiting the moment which all else transcends.
So the bond of our love, and intimate bliss were finally joined in our rousing first night,When I stripped your cocoon, our wedding bed strewn with fragrant rose petals, prepared for delight;Yet looking back now, it is hard to believe how unseasoned we were, with the trials ahead –But the furious storm only served to transform our perception of Love in the depths of our plight.
In the midst of affliction’s relentless travail, of trials profusely assaulting our joy,Are two forces at war, resolved to the core: One would bring hope, and the other destroy;But like the wise man who built his house on the Rock, the hurricane’s ominous fury has failedTo shake our resolve, or this mission devolve: that our marriage would mirror Christ’s Love to our boy.
Aroused from exhaustion, my romance awakens; sentimentality rekindled to flame –In pursuit of your heart, I would boldly impart; in manifold ways I will fondly proclaimMy devotion to you until my last breath, when I’m laid in the grave to await His return –Until our reunion, in Holy Communion, at the Wedding of the Lamb in joyous acclaim.
* * * * * * * Part III – His Reflection upon our Offspring: 03.30.19 –
Did I not tell you soon after we met, back in the days when our romance was new –To settle your mind, with hearts intertwined, that the gift of my love was uncommonly true;“I’ll win your heart,” I assured you, “and I’ll – never stop pursuing it as long as I live,”A love without end, my forever best friend, is all I possess – but I give it to you.
So come, my beloved, awaken your heart – for the winter is passing and spring-time is nigh;The dawn will portend that our trials must end, and gladness returning will brighten the sky –Let us shake off our slumber, rekindling the flame which has hitherto stolen the zest of our youth,And with eyes fixed above on the Author of Love, let us journey together, His Plan to descry.

Now closing my eyes and recalling our troth, with “Arms of Love” echoing forth in my mind,Such loving depiction of steadfast conviction, embodied by Christ, is my purpose assigned;With a towel and a basin, I’ll gather your feet, and lovingly wash them with chivalrous grace –And for the King’s daughter, the peppermint water – to serve you with honor as Jesus designed. © J.
